Multiple System Impact Studies (SIS) were performed for interconnections to the Highline Electric Association, Inc. 69kV system. Short Circuit, Power Flow and Dynamic analysis was performed using Aspen Oneliner and PSS/E to determine acceptability of the interconnection.
NRG Energy—Necker Island, BVI—Micro-Grid Project
Designed the electrical system for a renewable energy distributive generation style project on an island in the British Virgin Islands. Existing power was generated by diesel generators and the goal of the project is to reduce generator fuel consumption by 80%. Wind turbine(s), solar arrays and a battery system are part of the design to reach this goal. The island …
Tallgrass Energy Partners, LLC
Designed and provided construction oversight for nine small substations providing power to pumping stations on an oil pipeline. The design included motor starting studies, protective device coordination and specification and ordering the mais substation equipment. EEC also provided bidding services to select the contractor(s).
Anadarko – Medicine Bow Facility Arc Flash Study
Performed and Arc Flash Hazard Analysis and Coordination study for the 480V system at Plant 1 of the Medicine Bow Treating Facility. Coordinated breaker settings were provided to Anadarko along with Arc Flash Labels based on the updated breaker settings.
San Isabel Electric Association—Construction Work Plan
EEC performed engineering services to create a four year Construction Work Plan and Environmental Report for SIEA. Work involved system analysis, environmental agency contact, and report generation.
Xcel – Cherokee Station GSU Sizing
Performed a GSU sizing analysis for a new combined cycle natural gas power plant being designed for Xcel Energy at Cherokee Station. Analysis involved specifying size, impedance and cooling requirements for the three new generator step-up transformers.
Wheatland Rural Electric Association—Long Range Plan, Construction Work Plan and Sectionalizing Study
EEC performed engineering services to create a four year Construction Work Plan and Environmental Report, a 10-Year Long Range Plan and a complete sectionalizing study of the distribution system. Work involved updating the existing Milsoft Model, system analysis, report generation and recommendations for protective device placement.
Farmington Electric Utility System—Capacitor Placement
Analysis was performed using PSS/E Load Flow on the FEUS system. Single and multiple contingencies were analyzed to determine the need for a capacitor, its size, and its location to best alleviate possible voltage concerns.
Carbon Power and Light, Inc.—Long Range Plan, Construction Work Plan and Sectionalizing Study
