Texas City International Terminal 138kV Double Circuit Transmission Line

Texas City, Texas, 2002-2003:

Design of five miles of double circuit 138kV line along the Gulf Coast, using concrete and steel poles. Criteria included 130 mph winds and special bird deflection devices to avoid avian contacts with conductors.

Whitney to Bracewell 115kV Double Circuit Transmission Line

Poudre Valley Rural Electric Association, Fort Collins, Colorado, 2003-2004:

Routing, survey, and design of three miles of double circuit 115kV transmission on steel poles with pier foundations. Complex design required railroad crossing followed by crossing under an adjacent 230kV line and a 90 degree turn. Prepared steel pole loading diagrams, specifications, construction specifications, final pole staking, and construction observation. Design was performed using PLS-CADD and PLS-Pole.

Swallow Substation 115kV Underground Transmission Line

San Isabel Electric Association, Inc., Pueblo, Colorado, 2004:

Design of one half mile of 115kV underground transmission line, including concrete-encased duct bank, termination structures, line survey, and construction observation.

Almont North and South 25kV Distribution Line Rebuild

Gunnison County Electric Association, Gunnison, Colorado, 2004-2005:

Replacement of an existing 25kV line over several mesas, crossing the East River between Crested Butte and Gunnison. Work included survey-grade GPS mapping of the line route, PLS-CADD and PLS-Pole modeling of the line and structures, one 800 foot span crossing from the top of a mesa to the far side of the river 200 feet below, field staking, construction contract, and allowance for sensitive areas for sage grouse leks.

Lamar to Chase 69kV Transmission Line

Highline Electric Association, Holyoke, Colorado, 2005-present:

Design of 13 miles of 69kV rebuild using 115kV class pole top assemblies to reduce conductor contacts under galloping and icing conditions. Modeled line using PLS-CADD and Terraserver geodata; evaluated multiple conductors and steel and wood poles for economics and material availability. Coordinated work with irrigation and planting seasons; prepared construction contract and assisted in bidding process.

Cortez to Arriola 15kV Distribution Line Rebuild

Empire Electric Association, Cortez, Colorado, 2004-2005:

Design of eight miles of 15kV rebuild, including easement research, survey-grade GPS of existing terrain and line and highway crossings, assembly unit drawings and entry into customer’s equipment/material inventory system, and field staking.
